Makarska is the tourist Mecca of central Dalmatia. Split, the Dalmatian capital is only an hour's drive north away, while Dubrovnik is a two-hour ride south along the spectacular Adriatic highway.

A special attraction is mount Biokovo, part of the nature park, which towers over Makarska. It offers an unforgettable view of the Dalmatian islands and a unique shooting opportunity for amateur and professional photographers. The top can be reached on foot (2-3 hours of hiking) or by car (45 minutes).
